Binondo

I’ve actually snapped some pictures in binondo already last April.  I was originally just going to Times Trading to shop for some of my scrapbooking needs and since the church is just a few steps away I decided to visit it as well and take some pictures.  Good thing I had my camera with me.

The church is really nice but the surrounding is just not too picture friendly.  It’s a challenge to take pictures of the church without having extra buildings or electricity wires being included in the picture.

It was just a short photoshoot since I was already tired that day, but vowed to return…more prepared and ready!

Going home, I had to take a jeepney to the Manila City Hall where I can grab a jeepney going home (Project 6) .  Since I was there already, I also decided to take a couple more pictures.

Hopefully next time I can also cover Intramuros!

Luneta Park (2)

Filed under: parks — journeys @ 12:36 pm

It was quite an experience for me going to Luneta last saturday. It wasn’t really my first since I remember going there with my family to those kite-flying events by Bear Brand when I was still a kid.

It was just funny when these two women thought that I was one of those photographers of the park who takes those instant photos for tourists. They were calling me from afar and signaling me to take their pictures! Hehe! (“miss, miss, piktyuran mo kami!”)

Then when I was taking macro shots of some pretty flowers, there was this mamang kuchero who also called me from afar to take pictures of his kalesa too. I didn’t mind… not until he asked me for a few coins pang-yosi. Haaay… better be careful talaga when you go to these places…

Oh well. It was nice , though, watching families and lovers enjoying the park and having their picnics there. It’s great that they kept the park really clean, although there are still some homeless people making tambay and sleeping at the park.

Visita Iglesia

We would usually go and do Visita Iglesia every Holy Thursday.  Our usual itinerary are those churches near our place.  This year, I suggested that we extend our range of Churches and cover those in Manila as well.

Armed with a map, I made out itinerary and made sure  to know where to pass by since my uncle would be driving and doesn’t know how to go to the other churches.  I didn’t want to inconvenience my family to stop by every now and then just to ask for directions.

Anyway, it’s taking me time to upload the pictures, but here’s the list of Churches that we went to today.

1. Our Lady of Hope (Pag-asa, Quezon City)

2. Sto. Nino Church (Bago Bantay, Quezon City)

3. Christ the King (Project 7, Quezon City)

4. Heart of Jesus and Mary (Twin Hearts) (West Triangle, Quezon City)

5. Christ the King (E. Rodriguez Quezon City)

6.  Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine  (New Manila, Quezon City)

7.  Sto. Domingo Church (Quezon Ave, Quezon City)

8.  San Beda Chapel  (Manila)

9. St. Jude Archdiocesan Shrine (Manila)

10.  Sta. Cruz Church

11. Binondo Church

12.  Manila Cathedral (Intramuros, Manila)

13. San Agustin Church (Intramuros, Manila)

14. Church of Our Lady of Remedies (Malate Church) (M.H. Del Pilar, Manila)

15. The Shrine of Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life (near Mall of Asia)

Luneta Park

Filed under: parks — journeys @ 12:07 pm

It was a pretty much an action packed weekend for me.  I’d like to share some pictures from one of my photo-trippings. hehe!  I didn’t really intend to go to Luneta that day.  I was originally headed straight to Manila Zoo for some animal photo trippings, but I just found myself going down at Luneta Park.

It was a bit hot, but it was a generally good day for a photo shoot.  I love taking pictures when there’s ample sunlight which usually enables me to shoot nicer photos.

Big Binondo Food Wok

I know this is super delayed post, but anyways, I just want to share with you the Big Binondo Food Wok that I previously joined. But don’t expect to read where the places we went to since I don’t want to spoil it for those who want to join the tour as well.

The group met at the Binond Church at around 2pm. It was easy to recognize the groups since we were all wearing red. I was with a big group since there’s this clan who was with the tour. It was really fun since they were nice people and you could tell that they were well travelled since they would share once in awhile since nuggets of travel tips and where to go and what food tastes good.

The tour was really very informative, absolutely not in a boring way. Ivan was really very animated which is really makes it very effective for catching our attention. Since we had some foreigners with us, he dared them to eat balut. Good thing, they were good sports and rose to the challenge.

See some of my foodie pictures in my other blog.

Potipot Island (3)

I just wanna share some sunset pictures I took from our Potipot Island Adventure (Candelaria, Zambales). I just really love sunsets! I try to make it a point to capture the view of the sunset in every new place I travel to. I have yet to study more about photography using digital camera. I hope to capture more beautiful photos next time.

Potipot Island (2)

 Potipot Island across Isla Vista

We headed to Potipot Island at around 10am.  We didn’t look much further and just settled at a good enough site and decided to make our own ambiance by picking up scattered leaves around.  The boys made their way into building the fire for the grill.  Good thing Khandice assisted them or else we would probably be eating by 4pm.

Lunch was great! We had grilled pork, grilled squid, crabs, and ripe mangoes!  I think everybody was sooo full.  We had fun eating with our hands (and cleaning them at the beach! hehe!)

 A hearty lunch

The water was clean, though it was a bit rocky in our part of the beach.  Some just decided to play with the waves near the shore.  Some went snorkeling  a bit farther to avoid the rocky part.

We decided to play villager.  It was my first time to play this game unlike some of them.  I had a lot of fun, though I wish I’d stayed longer in the game and not killed or voted out early on.

We had another hearty meal when we got back to Isla Vista.  We had grilled pork, grilled hotdog, grilled tuna, and freshly picked green mangoes! Yum yum!!!  We even had bonfire afterwards, courtesy of the manongs from Isla Vista.

The next day we still played a couple of villagers game.  People were getting better and better at it!  Even when we had lunch at the floating restaurant we were still playing the game!

All was well and it was time for us to head back home.  Unfortunately for us, it took us almost twice the expected time going back!  Oh well.  It may not be a perfect outing, but we definitely had a lot of fun!  I think we all agree that it was waaaaay much better than our Jed’s Island Outing! =)
