Food tasting

Filed under: events — journeys @ 9:04 am

I accompanied my aunt and cousin for a final food tasting at Windmills and Rainforest. There’s actually a wedding when we got there. Anyway, we talked to the owner and finalized the details of the party. Hopefully everything falls into place and we’ll have a blast at my cousin’s debut party.

Here’s the food:
Lasagna
Porkloin
Chicken Kiev
Beef with mushroom
Fish Fillet with 3 types of sauce
Mixed vegetables
Mango Banana Crepe with Chocolate and Strawberry syrup
Leche Flan
Halo-halo

We also took advantage of the venue and had a pictorial shoot. These times, it really makes me wish to have that I have my own DSLR. Anyways, we had fun shooting! We’re actually coming back this weekend to have another photo shoot during day time. I really prefer shooting with natural lighting.

Pictures to follow…

High School Reunion

Filed under: events — journeys @ 7:57 am

It’s been 10 years since we graduated from high school. Our homecoming will be held on Sept. 6. I hope to see a lot of my batch mates during the reunion. A good friend is actually coming home from Australia just for the reunion! That’s really cool! I’m sure we’ll have loads of fun at the party! I wonder what became of out other batch mates. Some of them, I haven’t even seen since high school. I think a number of them are already in the US or some other country. Oh well. I’m sure a lot of stories will be told that night. I’m so excited!

crunch time

Filed under: events — journeys @ 6:02 pm

It’s only less than a month to go before my cousin’s debut party.  There’s still so much to do but I got everything organized so I’m really not to worried about it.  I just finished making some D-I-Y invitations.  I would just need to get the names of the receivers so I can print them out and stick them to the envelopes.  We still got some stuff to finalize with the caterer as well as finalize the program.  I’m positive it’s going to be a really splendid party for her!

I wonder what questions would be asked. It would be fun to eavesdrop on some of their conversations. Isn’t that exciting? It’s just going to be 3 minutes per session and then you move on to the next person. It’s going to be fun! I hope more people join. Just message me if you’re interested.

Cook wins!!!

Filed under: events — journeys @ 2:54 am

Yehey! David Cook won! I was really rooting from him! When he consistently sang week after week those nicely arranged songs, I knew he was a keeper. I really loved his version of Always be my Baby! I’m sure that’s going to be a hit in case he records it! I actually have an mp3 of his performance of that song and had it play all day long at one point.

Well, David Archuleta is also very good, especially considering that he is just 17 years old. He has a lot of good things that would come his way, that’s for sure! But comparing the two Davids, Cook was really above!

UP @ 100

Filed under: events — journeys @ 12:07 pm

I just knew I had to attend the kick off for the celebration of UP’s 100th year.  I have received a lot of emails about it and was already looking forward going back to my beloved alma mater and celebrate this momentous event.

From philcoa, it was traffic already and had to get off at CP Garcia since the University Ave was not passable anymore due to the formation of those who are part of the parade.  The ambiance was really festive and I just can’t seem to explain what I was feeling at that time.  I guess I’m just proud to be a graduate of this prestigious school.

There were  a lot of people who came!  I walked my way towards the Oblation area, seeing familiar faces every once in awhile.  I saw some past teachers, other eng’g people as well as younger orgmates.

It was really fun and I just couldn’t help but feel nostalgic.  Then I ran into a pisay batchmate (who is now a doctor) whom I haven’t seen for quite some time already.  It was really nice seeing old friends.  We decided to hang out to watch the parade and wait for the sky divers.

Every once in awhile, a helicopter would hover very low and release confetti, loose petals, and balloons.  The crowd loved it! I felt like a kid watching it!  Then the skydivers appeared!  It was fun watching them, but I admit being a bit disappointed since I thought they’d make up some formation up in the air.  Oh well.

Anyways, I stayed until the passing of the torches, wherein the first torch bearer is a 100 yr old alumni!  I would have loved to stay until the fireworks but my feet were hurting already and I didn’t want to be stuck in traffic.

Baguio trip (5)

Filed under: baguio, events — journeys @ 2:52 am

As expected, SM was overflowing with people. I got almost worried that I would be stuck in Baguio for days since I passed by some bus terminals and there was just too much people. Anyway, I didn’t trouble myself much with the thought and just decided to enjoy myself. The city looked so beautiful from up there! It was just unfortunate that I didn’t have any batt for my camera already.

As I made my way back, I noticed that a lot were already setting up their booths at the session road for the opening of the exhibit the next day. I just made note of the pasalubongs that I would be buying but decided to buy them the next day already. I had fun the whole day, but was too tired from all the walking already.

Baguio trip (4)

Filed under: baguio, events — journeys @ 3:52 pm

There was this enclosed area which has an exhibit inside. One part is full of stall selling different kinds of things, from food, souvenirs, handicrafts, etc. And then the skating rink was transformed into an exhibit hall for plants and flowers. I’m sure my mom would have loved being there since there were a lot of orchids! I would’ve bought her some but it would be quite a challenge to bring them home.

It was more than a 3-hour worth of walking and exploring. Too bad my camera had empty battery already (note to self: always bring a charger). I went back to my room to get a short nap and rest my tired legs. After a few hours, I was back on my feet to do some more walking and exploring. I wanted to go to SM Baguio, not to do some shopping, but to get a nice view of the city at night. I took a long cut to avoid the crowd and to enjoy the coolness of the pine city.
